Folge…what? – pictures
Jul 20th, 2008 by Peter
Third in the series of “What we did in Norway on our vacation pictures”.
One of our trips to see stuff went to a huge Glacier called Folgefonni. Also called Folgefonn, Folgefonna and probably other resourceful names. Not sure why the Norwegians didn’t settle on one and kept it, but that’s a whole other story. Back to the glacier.
Folgefonni is situated in on top of a mountain range in about +1500m above sea level. It sports a summer ski resort. The road to the resort is erhm interesting to drive on to put it moderate. It’s narrow, curvy and very steep. You need good nerves to take the trip.
As usually C fell asleep 45 minutes before we arrived. The same time it takes to drive the last nerviest stretch. After we arrived I woke her up. As expected she looked a bit puzzled to see snow close and people skiing. At least we didn’t have to hear her complain about her ears as we climbed the mountain. That’s normally something that bugs her a lot during flying and changing altitude fast. Then of course she didn’t see the beautiful scenery or the dangerous road there.
Nothing much to do up there if you aren’t a ski buff, but to grab some pictures and head back home. So that’s what we did.
Here’s some of the pictures:
Pic1: C posing in front of the view down the mountain (the road runs down past the lake)
Pic2: C posing on a rock
Pic3: ice in the water at one of the small ponds on our way down again
