New camera pics
May 26th, 2008 by Peter
Haven’t had enough time or proper opportunities to play around with my new EOS 400D. No doubt that it’s way better than my “old” pocket digital cam (Sony W80), but on the other hand, you need the right subjects and scenes to make full use of it.
Saturday C and I went downtown to watch the annual carnival in Aalborg. Should be basis for a few good pictures. The weather was good, and it was a perfect day to be a drunken carnival’er or watch them as they paraded through the city.
Unfortunately it was hard to get a good spot, so I really didn’t get as many as I would like to. Also there were loads of people, and C was waiting for her paparazzi husband, so I only got a handful and had no time to play around on camera settings.
After shooting some pics, we met some friends and grabbed some lunch. Then back to find a bus, only to discover my wallet missing. Back to the restaurant, where C found it on the floor. Phew.
You can find the pictures I chose to upload to the gallery from the carnival here.
When we got home we had some dinner, and I essentially crashed in a chair. 20 minutes of irregular sleeping made me do the obvious and I crept to bed. It was 7.30pm !
C woke me up at 10.15am because I got a sms from my nephew. So I staggered up and did a few choirs and then 1 hour later back to bed. No trouble sleeping again at all. 7 hours later I woke up again, but still a bit wasted. Not quite sure why, but surely I needed some extra naptime?
I also uploaded some pictures from January-May in the new 2008 folder now that I got the gallery working again.
Congrats on the new camera…from what I’ve read and seen it’s very capable. Now all that’s left to do is get some good glass for it!
Enjoy – and nice shot of the mime (or clowns?) – but it’d be nice to see it larger!
Thanks Justin – Agree on the size (did you click the link to the Carnival below, where all shots are bigger btw?) and new glass.
I can tell you (in all secrecy of course ;-)), that I’m baking on a dedicated Photo Blog with my favourite pictures in higher resolution. Almost got everything ready, just need to find the original pics again on my HD ;-) I also ordered a 55-250mm Canon IS lens that is due within 14 days. It is not the highest quality lens, but far the best buy in the economy class (where I belong these days). Won’t get far with the 18-55mm standard lens if you want the “spy” shots.
Ps: Hail China Mash! Hopefully I can get as good as you in the future. Long way to go though.
