… this Sunday my missus and I have our 2nd year wedding anniversary.
Last year I bought C some jewellery and some luxury underwear. After opening the presents she was extremely happy. She also told me to not buy her anything next year, but if I had to, it shouldn’t be expensive. If I wanted to give her something, it should be a bag of healthy candy like nuts, dried figs or similar.
Next year is now this year and my supernatural powers sense that C’s mind has changed. You know the “little” things like looking in jewellery magazines, pointing and saying: “That’s beautiful” and so on.
The good soldier as I am, I have of course decided to be loyal to last year’s wishes, and will present her with a bag of nuts. That’s just the slamming-my-heels-together kind of hubby I am. This morning she also asked me what gift I got her and my answer was: “Gift? You said you didn’t want any?. Ok, then Nuts. A big bag of nuts for about 20kr (4US$). That’s what you wanted right?” No need saying that she weren’t satisfied and jumped up and down like a little schoolgirl as she told me I was a liar. I just kept cool and said: “Nope, not a liar. Just following last years orders”.
Even though I initially planned on at least a restaurant visit it is now out-of-the-question. C already calculated the bill to be between 500-1000,- kr (100-200US$) and therefore the same as 10-20 really good Danish/Chinese home cooked meals (thats female Chinese logic. Male Danes would have translated the money into beer). I sense trouble if I don’t “obey”, so I’ll cave and let that one slip this time. Maybe next year, eh? So it looks like a good dinner at home, and a bag of nuts?
Since she reads this blog from time to time (read: last year when I wrote what I bought), all I can say is that I hope she won’t be too disappointed.
Congratulation – I hope you have a nice day without too many arguments regarding the gift.
I sounds very familiar – please don’t buy me anything expensive! But anyway she gets very happy when I buy her something, and I’m sure she will be very disappointed if I just buy her some cheap stuff for Christmas. Probably some strange kind of female logic that they expect to get some nice present but tell us the opposite.
Come on – we know that you’re going to give in and I already see it – you’re going to give her the nuts and smart little you will “accidentially” put a nice little piece of jewellery inside the bag also – or maybe not. It’s a good way to show her that what she demands she gets – but be warned – she will NOT be able to see the fun of it if you do not give her something nice.
Let’s just say that she – of course – will be alright in the end. As Claus says, she will get a warning though :-)
And by the way – I forgot to say congratulations – let it hereby be done. Hope you’re having a good day and best of luck
Thanks Claus :-)
Congratulations from me, too.
Tnx Bjoern :)
