Tie some pasta to your neck

What the hell is up with bowties?
What man really wants a bow tied to his neck? For one I think it looks like a squid ink coloured Pasta Farfalle?
And why is it that bowties is expected at the Oscar Awards and not at weddings, office work or changing oil on your lawnmower?
So many questions yet unanswered
The oscars are a formal event and you should dress as such, and many weddings have gotten more casual then they should be but their are still many wear a bowtie is appropriate. Of course you are not going to be dressed up when you are mowing tthe lawn or working on your car, that would be silly. I guess i would be what man, since i wear then to work everyday. I do not see then as a squid ink colored pasta farfalle as you called it, there are many reasons as to why I prefer them over regular ties. All I can say to you is not to knock it untill you have tried it.
Have you ever wondered why these came to exist and why they ended up being used as they do?
Anyway, I wear regular ties sometimes, and I kinda like it (except for the lack of air). Those are pretty stupid too, if you think about it. Why would anyone wear a piece of cloth hanging from your neck?
What triggered my bowtie-questions was that I saw a guy from my company receive an “award” for some company stuff, and he wore the whole penguin outfit with the other guys giving it away. Guess it was obligatory, but it looked strange as I’ve never seen him wear other things that regular ties. Also here in Denmark bowties are not that normal a sight except for… well… awards and similar. And when I say normal, I mean for only very few selected people, whereas others just wair a plain tie. Maybe this is why I find bowties somewhat wierd when I finally see them here.
