We’re THIS desperate…

…. to get rid of tomato plants.
Today I gave 4 more away to colleagues and I also pimped my own department to foster two them. The first one a week ago and today I gave it a buddy. Well, a wife really.
When I brought the first one, I asked C what it’s name was. She gave it a 2 sec thought and shouted: “HOMER!!!”.
So the name for nr two should be pretty obvious, right?
Stupid me tried to explain my belove (chinese) wife the other day about your problems and dilemmas – just as an example on how other danish/chinese couples also get into problems and I really think your tomato problem is too funny. And here comes stupid me – the wife didn’t see the fun at all. Of cause those tomato plants should be grown and if there is not enough room – then make the room – move some of the other stuff away and give the tomatoes first priority – it’s food!
I still sometimes think she will find the same things funny as I do – I’m basicly a naive person – I still didn’t get it into my head that danish and chinese humor is very different and irony really doesn’t work out here at all – I’m a very ironic person and I too often get into trouble with the chinese when I’m too ironic. After 9 years in China I still do it – I simply can’t help it.
Ha ha… I bump my head into the same wall sometimes. Food is food, but should be treated as gold. I do feel that we should not trash the plants though, but we’re still miles apart on the point of giving them away or making room for them :-)
C just loves flowers and plants, and I can’t blame her. She has green fingers, and should be allowed to use them. But it is some plant inferno we have now. Just yesterday she told me that she didn’t want to let go of more. And mind me – this is when we still have at least 10-15 in the windows. Sigh.
I think C’s humour is pretty well adjusted for Danish humour. In this regard I have nothing to complain about. The difference between her humour and mine is subtle and I’d say that this is more due to the woman-man issue, than to the China-Denmark thing. Even though I put on my North-Jutland irony and sarcasm, she still get my jokes pretty well.
[…] Avid readers of Bring on the Night (me I guess) may recall that my missus is somewhat of a tomato plant genius. The same folks may also remember that I’m not. […]
