Please tell me the test site is wrong?
My homepage blocked by the Great Firewall? It has to be a joke if this is true. I don’t think my writing is anywhere near offensive to China. I haven’t heard anyone complain that I was blocked at all, so I cross my fingers for a temporary error.
Can anyone currently residing in China enlighten me if my assumption is correct?
Ps.: Tnx to Kevin for pointing me to the testsite
I am able to access Bring on the Night with no problems from my ISP here in Beijing. However, I also ran the greatfirewallofchina.org test on your site and it reads that your site is blocked. From my understanding, that site tests sites based on the results of one server in China, which could mean that joecool.dk/blog is blocked at the location in China where their server is located, wherever that is. Anyway, it seems fine at least on the academic network here in Beijing.
In Beijing,it’s no problem visiting your blog,it isn’t blocked in China since I knew your blog.And I can’t visit http://greatfirewallofchina.org/ ,so I don’t know if it’s a joke.
You’re fully functional in Dalian. I’ve lost much of my faith in GreatFirewallofChina.org, because at the moment it’s far too unreliable. They say on the site that technical glitches could make a site appear unavailable, even if it’s not being actively blocked.
The big problem, as Kevin noted, is that they test with one server only. I hang out in a coffee shop where my site is blocked, whereas it’s available from my home connection. That’s two completely different results on the same street.
Of course, the test site itself is blocked (available by proxy) on my home ISP right now.
Tnx guys. Now I feel safer. Would be a mere catastrophe not being able to access my blog, when we go to China in July.
That would mean I would have to endure endless conversations that I did not understand, and couldn’t go to the refuge that I call “blogging/Internet/rambling” :-)
I enjoyed your post so much I blogged about the
greatfirewallof china.
Your blog is very enjoyable.
Many thanks.
