A headline that just invites to smartass replies, right? Caught your attention though, didn’t it?
We have C’s sister and her 8 year old boy living with us since mid December. They are going home in 14 days or so, and it has been great having them here overall. C’s sister is a great help with a newborn and all, and her kid seems to enjoy himself, except around homework time. Sometimes he does things I find peculiar at best though. I’m not sure whether its culture, personality or youth that makes him do those things, and I have no way of finding out.
For instance he has this habit of kissing our two boys on the forehead. A friendly gesture, I guess, but it rubs me the wrong way. Thinking about it, I wouldn’t mind if it was a girl/boy or boy/girl situation, but why is that different? He really likes our kids and wants to be close to them all the time (running in the way more than helping, but still). To me the kissing thing just bugs me. So why wouldn’t I mind if he was a girl doing the same? Maybe this is a pure Danish thing, and I shouldn’t be so uptight? It just feel odd to me and I have a hard time biting my lip.
