My wife – the romantic
Jan 2nd, 2007 by Peter
As some may know, C and I had our 1 year anniversary day the 16th December. As I described in this post, I went out and bought her a few gifts. I even made a long letter for her. I found it pretty romantic myself, and since it is my blog, I’ll just give myself a pat on the back. *pat* *pat*… there.
A few days ago a windowed envelope dropped in our letterbox and C opened it. Since she came to Denmark, I always encouraged her to open all incoming letters, as this teach her a little about the Danish way of administration, remembering to send well-wishings and so on.
This particular letter was from the bank, and it is a monthly regular. Nothing overdue or similar, just the transcript how I used the credit card during the last month. Unfortunately this letter was also the living proof of the size of my love to C (uhm… this entry gets more and more nasty). In it you could see the amount of money used to buy her anniversary gifts. As C already had guessed this, she forced me to point out the figures.
C instantly compared the price tags to Chinese ones, and looked pretty chocked.
Yesterday the subject came up again, and I explained that it was mostly for the bigger anniversaries that men bought that expensive gifts here, and that next year she should expect the proof of my love to be – let’s call it – more of a symbolic character like some flowers.
She just said: “Next year, don’t give me flowers. Thats too expensive. Give me a bag of nuts. Nuts you can eat”.
