Statistic maniac
Dec 9th, 2006 by Peter
I have had a good eye on a new plugin for WordPress called FireStats for quite some while now. It’s a re-build on an older nice plugin called Counterize which unfortunately was discontinued much to my grief. Now it seems someone picked up the torch, and the outcome looks great.
As always, plugins are mostly toys, and toys are saved for playtime. Friday evening it was finally playtime and I got around to installing it. Somehow I managed to make – let’s call it – an unfortunate installation (read: I’m an idiot). So I posted a cry for help to Omry (keep your universal translator ready if you click the link) who is the the author of FireStats. Saturday morning his reply solved my problem. Now my FireStats installation works like a charm.
FireStats really does all it promises, and if only you manage to install it as instructed *cough* Peter *cough*, it is easy to setup and use.
I figured that one favour is worth another, so when I saw Omry’s guide/plea to help translating FireStats to other languages, I jumped at the chance. 1½ hour later it was done and passed on.
Chances had it, that no one had done the Danish translation, so mine is included in FireStats from today. Soon I will shine in my new found fame (being mentioned in the credits mean that you are Hollywood material, right?). Now I can use my celebrity status to make a distance to all you average Joes. I won’t hesitate to let you know how much I loathe and despise you for your average fame and average intelligence *muahahahaha* erhm. No more coffee today. So.
Aaaaanyway, it seems that I can help with the next versions too, which is pretty sweet. FireStats is a really neat tool for us who want to track the visitors. Did I mention that FireStats is not only a plugin for WordPress but can be installed as standalone to generate statistics on other php pages as well?
If you are looking for a statistics tool like Counterize or is an old user (who had a good long cry when you found out it was discontinued), I would highly endorse FireStats. It really is the most cool tool in my plugin selection.
