I’m making progress here!

…or you could say that I weren’t. Depends on the eyes that see I guess.
Even though I earlier proclaimed that sloth may equal stupidity (which accidentally also would leave me to be one dumb fuck), I have now finally finished of one of the books I mentioned here. I bought a lot of books, but somehow I am too lazy to do the reading.
I read all of Peter Hessler’s book – River Town. I decided to skip another book, which eventually bored me out. Great reading, but got too “same old, same old” after finishing more than half.
Peter Hessler’s book, on the other side, was intriguing and catchy. I ate it pretty fast and it was no problem keeping awake at the bedtime reading séance. I would like to recommend it, as it is nothing less than brilliant. It deserves the praise it has won on Amazon. If you are a China expat, I am sure the book and the reading is old news, but to someone who is not in China, but have an interest, its great stuff. Highly recommended reading indeed.
After my successful read, I got too bold and decided to go ahead with Mao – A Life. Stupid is as stupid does.
Right now I haven’t read that much, and it is not because lack of interest. The book is simply too heavy reading (too a non-native English speaker this is even worse), and furthermore it jumps in time more than I like. Also it has a lot of names that is difficult to keep track of, which makes it more confusing than good is. I am considering starting over on an easier read book of my list.
But it’s kind of a downer to start something and not finishing. Especially since I find Mao interesting (in a non-rolemodel-but-part-of-chinese-history-kinda-way) and this book is said to be one of the best, most neutral and observing in its view on his life.
Sigh, better capitulate soon and get on with one of the other books.
