Fishing in Norway – Pictures

Sixth in the series of “What we did in Norway on our vacation pictures”
Sometimes pictures say more than words (at least when they are accompanied by wording, right?).
C fishing from our veranda. Kojak doing his thing on a chair.
She only caught this sucker. Ugly as hell with many spikes. I told C not to try to gut it or eat it since I was not sure how poisonous it was. Couldn’t even remember then name, and still can’t
After lucking out from the veranda, I grudgingly accepted to use the boat that was included in the house rent. Engine trouble at first, but after reading the manual, it turned out that there was an on/off button to the fuel line hidden underneath engine hood that needed to be turned on of course. Great success!
First catch from the boat. C is not happy about it though. An ugly redfish that looked even uglier after being pulled up from 40m depth. Bet I would look a bit puzzled and divers sick too. Besides huge eyes, it had its swimming bladder completely blown up hanging out its mouth. As the picture shows, C weren’t that happy with it, even though she had a craving for fresh (free) fish. Bet it didn’t help that I named it before she gutted it. Oh, and according to C, it was actually very tasty.
Back out there trying to catch bigger fish
. And we did. Well, C did. A pretty big one, which C almost couldn’t hold as it struggled for freedom. She almost gave up and wanted me to take over after 20secs, but I told her she could do it. Luckily she could. When she struggled with the fish, the fishing rod was so bent that the top went 20 cm into the water, and C had to use the edge of the boat as leverage point.
Also caught another redfish. C preparing the slice.
The big fish on dry land, and a flats fish of some sort in the bucket
C gutting the fish. Both the big one and the tiny redfish deserved to die when you saw the bait. A 8cm heavy chunk shiny metal with a hook. Greedy little suckers.
C found some netted cages for catching well I don’t know. They worked fine for catching crabs though. C tied some old rye bread inside the cage and before 10mins they were crowded by crabs
