Lust, caution…. a lot of caution…

According to this news, Wei Tang is now being boycotted in the Chinese medias. One can only wonder why, but the obvious reason would be her “betrayal” in the movie Lust, Caution, where she end up having a relationship with a ruthless Japanese sympathizer.
There’s also a few naughty scenes in the western cut version, which caused quite a stir.
According to Danish news, Ang Lee, who produced Lust, Caution, does his best to defend her by saying that she did a good job in the movie and that he would try to support her during this tough time.
If this is the biggest problem in China, I’d say that a few Chinese fabricated Mohammed cartoons would work wonders for the newspapers. Sigh…..
About time you got a picture of her after all the times we heard about her. I saw the news also and it also stated that the naughty scenes was deleted in the version released in mainland China (better wait until I get home to buy the movie) so it a bit difficult to understand why she is banned. Probably because of the relationship with the Japanese man. In my opinion it’s a big problem because it totally undermines the artistic licence, and a very bad signal to send to the rest of the world just a few months before the Olympics. They were better of if they used the movie to try to reconcile with the past – many Chinese people still hate the Japanese. I know they did some terrible things, but why do they still want the young people to hate them. Maybe they need a common enemy…
